The greatest gift you could ever receive

What is the greatest gift you could ever receive?

Every Christmas, shops are packed with people hunting for presents for family, friends and colleagues. And whether young or old, we all look forward to receiving gifts.

But year after year, we soon discover how hard it is to be truly satisfied. There's always something more that we wish we could have, and Christmas presents only satisfy us for a little while. Maybe we wish we could have a sense of peace. Maybe we're looking for a purpose in life. Maybe we're looking for forgiveness, but don't know where to find it. Maybe we want to change, but don't know how. Maybe we just want to be loved.

God knows our deepest needs, even more than we do. He loves us, even more than we could imagine. Because of that, He has offered us the greatest gift we could ever receive. He has offered us a good relationship with Him.

How? By taking away the barrier of sin -- all the evil, selfish things we have done or thought. How did He do that? He paid the penalty of sin for us, by coming to us as Jesus, and offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins.

Jesus is the greatest gift God offers to us. Through Him, we can have peace, purpose, forgiveness, transformation and love. Through Him, we do not need to pay the price for our sins -- a price we could never truly pay through our own efforts. Because of his loving sacrifice, we do not need to face eternal punishment. Instead, we can have eternal life in heaven. God wants you to receive His greatest gift. You just have to acknowledge that you need Jesus.

Our 56th Anniversary - Looking forward

YCK Chapel celebrated its 56th anniversary on Sunday, 3 October 2010.

Even as we look back on God's guidance and blessings over the years, we look forward to fulfilling His desire for us as a church in the years to come.

As we look ahead, we hear these declarations of the Lord Jesus afresh:

· “I will build my church” (Matt 16:18). That is the Lord’s promise. We know that He has been building and we can be confident that He will continue building.

· “Love the Lord your God with all your heart …” (Matt 22:37). That is our priority. Our Lord affirmed this as “the first and greatest commandment”. He also drew attention that the second is to “love your neighbour as yourself ”.

· “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matt 28:19). That is the mission entrusted to us.

We want to see our church as a vibrant place for worship and maturing as a disciple-making church, with multiplication of small groups.
Our vision is to be a church that is clearly committed to multiplying disciples of Christ to impact communities in Singapore and abroad.

Mueller: A Walk of Faith - the musical

We praise and thank God for the response to Yio Chu Kang Chapel's first musical in 35 years! All four shows at the Lee Foundation Theatre were sold out, with a total of over 1,300 people seeing the show.

Audience members were taken on an inspiring musical journey depicting George Mueller's walk of faith -- a walk that in many ways mirrors the journey any Christian must take as one heeds God's call.

If you have seen the musical and would like to share any comments or testimonies, please email admin@yckc.org.sg
